Best Burgers In Liverpool

Liverpool is a big place and has a lot of places to grab something good to eat. We here at Just Food are big burger fans, so we thought it would be a good idea to give you our three picks for the best burgers in Liverpool. When we say burger, we don’t just mean beef. We know that there are many things that can be sandwiched between a nice brioche bun. We also know some of you out there aren’t keen on meat. We took all of this into account when choosing our three places to recommend. Each of these places has the classic beef burgers as well as chicken and at least one vegan option. This list only focuses on burgers. Whilst you can get amazing sides from all of these places and many places that do burgers in the city also do other things, we haven’t taken these into account. However, that doesn’t mean you should try the sides at these places after hearing about their fantastic burgers. Without further delay, let’s get on with the list of the best burgers in Liverpool!

Fat Hippo

Fat Hippo is our first choice for the best burgers in Liverpool. They make exceptional burgers and are not afraid to put some unique ingredients in those buns. They believe in good food and are committed to making sure you leave happy and full. They offer three types of burgers, beef, chicken and vegan, giving everyone a chance to get a burger. No matter what you like between your bun, no matter what your dietary restrictions.

They have nine Beef options ranging from a classic American featuring a double patty, cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard. The wild bill features a double patty, cheese, smoked bacon, Cajun waffle fries, BBQ sauce, ranch and jalapenos and for those who are really hungry, there is the 4×4, which is four patties, American cheese, smoked bacon and their fat hippo sauce.

They also have some quirky beef burgers featuring different combinations, such as the PB & Double J. It has a double beef patty stacked with American cheese, chunky peanut butter, bacon jam and smoked chilli jello. They also run seasonal specials, Halloween they are serving a special burger called the Shreddy Krueger, and it is a monster of a burger. It features a charcoal seeded bun, double beef patty, Swiss cheese, shredded chipotle beef, fried onions, gherkins, gem lettuce, pink pickled onions, ketchup and sour cream, served with hand-cut chips.

For chicken fans, they have three chicken burgers. They all feature buttermilk fried chicken, and it is fantastic. The hangover 3 is chicken with American cheese, smoked bacon, lettuce, pickles, bbq sauce and range. The Great White Buffalo, on it you will find chicken combined with American cheese, smoked bacon, their famous buttery Buffalo hot sauce and crunchy purple slaw! Last but not least, there is The Last Samur-thigh which is chicken, American cheese, lettuce sriracha, hoisin, herb mayo and Asian slaw.

For their vegan options, they have five burgers for people who don’t want or can’t eat meat between their buns. The options include the Five Lies burger, a single plant-based patty, vegan cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard. The Harlem Fake is another option, a southern-fried plant-based patty, vegan cheese, pink onions, sriracha mayo, lettuce and chipotle slaw. These aren’t the only ones. More choices await the vegan food-loving crowd at Fat Hippo. With all this is there any question as to why we included it in this list of the best burgers in Liverpool.

Almost Famous

Almost Famous is our next choice on the list of best burgers in Liverpool. A brilliant burger joint in Liverpool serving a mix between beef and chicken burgers with one vegan option. Almost Famous might not have the variety and amount of options that Fat Hippo has but the options it does have are all really good, so good you won’t be needing more.

Their beef burgers are some of the best burgers as they definitely stand out as their star quality. Almost Famous have their ‘famous’ burger, a double cheeseburger, stacked with salad all tied together with their famous sauce and bacon ketchup. They also have other more advanced beef burgers, such as the Phoenix burger. A double cheeseburger, bacon, shoestring onions, frazzles, red chillies, redneck bbq, mayo and ketchup!

If you are a chicken fan, then they have one option for you here. That might seem a little underwhelming after hearing about all the chicken options of Fat Hippo, but don’t worry, the Almost Famous chicken option is good enough to satisfy your chicken cravings. They call it the Liberty Island, buttermilk fried chicken, bacon, stacked with a salad with jalapeno mayo, smashed avo and chipotle mayo.

As well as their one chicken option, they have one burger for vegan food lovers. The vegan burger is called The vegan Famous. It has a stunning vegan patty, a generous helping on salad, melty vegan cheese, smoky ketchup and vegan ‘famous’ sauce. They also do special burgers, mixing things up with unique flavour combinations. Currently, they have a special called The Butter Blood & Bleu. It’s a steak burger that features a prime cut, cooked to a medium-rare placed on a juicy double cheeseburger, dripping with peppercorn and creamy blue cheese sauce. That combined with crispy chorizo and magic mayo. Now with their wonderdusted waffle fries giving crunch and pure satisfaction in every mouthful. Another we can say has some of the best burgers in Liverpool.

Here in Liverpool, they do a burger called This Is Liverpool. It is a Double cheeseburger, salt n pepper chicken and chips, chip shop curry sauce, wonder onions, peppers, chillies, iceberg and peppered mayo. How good does that sound? It makes their Liverpool location extra special!

Byron Burgers

Our Final pick is Byron Burgers. A much-loved spot in Liverpool known for making some of the best burgers you’ll find. As with the other picks, they have a mix of beef, chicken and vegan burgers. They pride themselves on the ingredients they use. They like to form relationships with their supply chain, so they know who is behind the ingredients they source. They acquire their ingredients from their family-owned butcher in Yorkshire. They make their patties from four cuts of top-quality beef; flank, chuck, brisket and short rib. That ensures the ultimate flavour fusion to create a delicious pink & juicy patty. They season the meat with a pinch of salt and pepper and let it sizzle on the grill. If that isn’t making you hungry, then I don’t know what will.

They have nine beef burgers to choose from, and as with the previous places, they all have different ingredients and combinations. Their classic burger is a great place to start. Simple but tasty, an Aberdeen Angus beef patty, lettuce, tomato, red onion, ketchup and mayo. If you’re looking for an option that has more to it, then allow me to point you in the direction of their B-Rex burger. A 6oz beef patty with gooey American cheese, bacon, onions, jalapenos, a deep-fried onion ring, bbq sauce, mayo and pickles. Doesn’t that sound amazing?

When it comes to chicken, Byrons is somewhat of a middle ground between Fat Hippo and Almost famous in terms of amounts. There aren’t as many burgers to choose from as Fat hippo, but they have more than one option of Almost Famous. Their clucky burger is one of their best chicken burgers. It has grilled or crispy buttermilk fried chicken, smashed avocado, sriracha, mayo, pickled red onions, pickles and lettuce. Having the option between grilled or crispy chicken is delightful for those who like the different styles of chicken. One of their other options is the C-Rex it is similar to the B-rex. Again you get the choice between grilled and buttermilk fried chicken breast, gooey American cheese, bacon, onions, jalapeno, a deep-fried onion ring, bbq sauce, mayo and pickles. Byron’s is a great place to grab a chicken burger.

They have two options to cover their vegan eaters. The first is the Cali cheeseburger. It has a Beyond Meat plant-based patty with vegan cheddar, pickled red onions, lettuce, roasted garlic aioli and smoked tomato ketchup! If that isn’t tickling your fancy, then they have the Truffler. A Beyond Meat plant-based patty with crispy onions, roasted truffle mushrooms, pickled red onions, lettuce, American mustard, vegan cheddar and truffle mayo. Now that sounds like a fancy vegan burger!
